Dominic had a pretty rough time when he started. I think that having gone to the school around the time of Robin's birth, and also going to get Dominic all the time really added to her comfort level. She does seem pretty hungry when she gets home, so I have to think she's being kind of picky with what they offer. They say she has napped well this week and she's eating her food. I don't think it would go as smoothly with me there. I have not done the drop-off yet, but Marcos says she always enters the classroom happy as can be and doesn't look back when he's leaving. As far as school, Christie did half days last week and full days this week. I am very sad to see them go! We've had various family come live in Austin but something always takes them away. The other big thing that has happened around here is that Christie started school! Steffi is no longer watching her because the Chayrez's are moving to the Ft. It just so happens that I left for North Dakota on March 4 from a gate way down at the non-Southwest end of the terminal and saw evidence of a celebration from the first arrival the previous night. The first flight was March 3, and it got some mention in the local news. So anyway, they now fly here to Austin five days a week and will soon increase it to seven days. On our last couple of trips to San Diego, we have tracked the British Airways arrival so we can be outside to see it fly over. My Dad emailed us videos of the plane which added to the obsession - planes are kind of their shared thing. "Talk about British Airways" he would tell me in his bath, at dinner, in the car. For weeks Dominic made me repeat every detail of the story (and there weren't many) a thousand times.
It dates back to one of our San Diego trips when my Dad told him about the one huge British Airways plane that flies over my parents' house daily. It's also a very big deal in our house because Dominic has been kind of obsessed with British Airways for over a year now.
I can hardly believe we have that kind of demand. In other news, British Airways now has direct flights back and forth between London and Austin.
